Don Bemis was born and educated in New Mexico. He met and married Lois in college, and they have lived in Michigan since 1979. He intended to be a city planner but has worked mostly in engineering. His employer downsized a few years ago, which gave Don lots of time to write. He didn't mind eating occasionally, though, so he also was an engineering consultant, handyman, and substitute teacher. Don and Lois spent several months in Nebraska, watching corn grow and trains roll. They spent three months in Beaver, Pennsylvania, watching beavers paddle around. Then they spent three summer months in Arizona, which makes us wonder about their scheduling skills. Now they are back in Michigan, and he is engineering again. He also is on the city council and church leadership committee, plays clarinet in the community band and church musical team, and preaches occasionally at the county jail. Don and Lois have five adult children and two grandchildren. |
